Current chapter: About This Book

In this documentation, all illustrations and examples show the screen of a "generic" mobile phone that has Openwave Mobile Browser integrated into it in a typical way. A thin border is drawn around screen images to make them easier to read in a book; the browser doesn't draw a border on the screen.
IMPORTANT The display area and key arrangements of real mobile phones vary considerably. Some phones have more or fewer softkeys or use different controls, such as a jog shuttle or other alternatives to buttons. Always test your applications on the real phones in your market.
This book uses a monospaced font for the following purposes:
Text that appears like this identifies XHTML-MP and CSS markup, path names, URLs, and literal characters that you must enter.
Text that appears like this identifies placeholders or variables that you should replace with values appropriate to your environment.
