Openwave V7 is more than a browser. It lets operators and handset manufacturers customize the user interface and create a consistent look and feel across the entire phone. Manufacturers and operators are excited because V7 includes a WAP2 browser, an integrated messaging client. For developers, there are also some attractive features. V7 has a graphical application framework and there is also a Linux version. The Developer Tool: The V7 Phone Simulator Phone Simulator V7 is a PC-based simulator of Phone Suite Version 7, the software platform provided by Openwave to enable data services in mobile phones. It's easy to install and set up and faithfully recreates the same features provided on the device. This version contains the latest version of the Openwave Mobile Browser and MMS client, and should be used for designing/testing applications that are targeting the V7 phones. Phone Simulator V7 Preview has a "dual stack" configuration, meaning that the single executable contains both the WAP and HTTP versions of the browser. The simulator has the following capabilities:
