Surf Report: XHTML Tutorial and Resources

This month, as a response to a request from a reader, we point to one of the more detailed pages on our website. It's a good reminder that we have posted a variety of in-depth and useful information and tutorials to help you develop your mobile content. The page is an XHTML tutorial. It provides you with a tutorial on writing XHTML code for a mobile site and includes a demo site and sample code.

It's just one of many useful documents you'll find in the Documents section of Support. Following the XHTML theme, you'll also find an XHTML-MP Style Guide (under Application Style Guide), an XHTML-MP and CSS Reference Guide, and an XHTML Best Practices Guide. The Jack's Hacks archive has an article on XHTML App Certification Criteria (Sept. 2004) and Converting WML to XHTML (Sept. 2002).

From the Trenches has an introduction to XHTML and CSS (which you can find by searching or by going to From the Trenches and clicking on the link to Previous Installment). Technical Notes includes a guide to converting WML to XHTML. Lastly, under Recommended Reading, we point you to the book "Beginning XHTML".

For interactive assistance with XHTML, go to our XHTML/CSS Forum.

You can find all of these by typing XHTML into the Search function on the Openwave Developer Network web page.

When you complete your XHTML content, don't forget to enter it into the Openwave Mobile Application Directory; the Directory is also a good starting point before you develop your content because it allows you to check and see what is already available from other developers.
