The UP.SDK
The Unwired Planet Software Development Kit provides tools for developers who want to create or maintain HDML services. The UP.SDK consists of the following:
- The UP.Simulator, a Windows 95/NT application that simulates the behavior of an UP.Phone and makes it easy to test HDML services.
- Perl and C library functions that simplify the process of generating HDML and handling HTTP requests.
- C++ (Solaris) and COM (Windows) notification libraries and tools.
- Tools for requesting and installing SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates.
- Sample HDML files and application source code which you can use as a starting point for your own HDML services.
- Developer documentation consisting of online manuals in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF).
IMPORTANT
The UP.SDK Version 3.1 for HDML contains documentation and sample code to develop services using HDML 3.0. In order to access these services, phones must have UP.Link browser Version 3.0 or higher software. If you want users with UP.Link browser Version 2.x phones to access your service, you must develop a version of your service using HDML 2.0. In this case, download the UP.SDK Version 2.0 and refer to the associated documentation and sample code.
If you are interested in developing services with the WML language, download the UP.SDK Version 3.1 for WML and refer to the associated documentation and sample code. Note that WML services are only supported on phones with UP.Link browser Version 3.1 or higher.
Check the Unwired Planet Developer Web site for a list of publicly available UP.Phones and their respective browser versions. For unannounced products and services, contact your carrier to determine the UP.Link browser version(s) you need to support.
