System requirements
Your system must meet the following requirements to run the UP.Simulator:
- Windows NT 4.0 (or later) or Windows 95/98.
- Access to a Web server that can be configured to serve HDML files and run CGI programs (to test services that generate HDML dynamically).
- Internet access to an UP.Link server, such as the Unwired Planet developer UP.Link server
devgate2.uplanet.com (to test UP.Link features such as notifications, faxing, and user preferences). Note that you must also register your system on the UP.Link server to use it (see UP.Link mode).
- If you want to use languages other than English or character sets other than US-ASCII, you will need the appropriate fonts (for more information, see Specifying language, character set, or font). Note that you must run Windows NT-J or Windows 95/98-J to simulate a Japanese UP.Phone.
The UP.Simulator communicates with the UP.Link server over UDP and uses the following ports by default:

To access an UP.Link server outside your local firewall with the UP.Simulator, your firewall must be configured to allow this communication. For information about configuring the UP.Simulator to use other ports, see Using different ports.
